What Does A Christian Do

"Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart." (Pslams 32:11)
"And after these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, 'Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power to the Lord our God'...And I heard, as it were, the voice of a multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, 'Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!' " (Revelations 19:1, 6)
"And as he was drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen." (Luke 19:37)

WHY CLAP?

"O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph." (Psalms 47:1)

WHY GATHER FOR SERVICE?

The word "church" in the Greek is "ekklesia", literally meaning "those called out to gather together with GOD". We believe that only in our gathering for worship is the church made real. "For where two or three are gather together in my name, there I am in the midst of them".

WHY HAVE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS?

"Praise him with the sound of the trumpet. Praise him with the psaltry and harp. Praise him with the timvrel and dance. Praise him with the stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals." (Psalms 150:3-5)

WHY PRAY AND PRAISE IN TONGUES?

"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding in unfruitful. What is the result then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding (1 Corinthians 14:15)

WHY HAVE THE GIFT OF THE SPIRIT?

"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. ... Now there are diversities of gift, but the same Spirit... for to one is given the word of wisdom by the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirit, to another the interpretation of tongues." (1 Corinthians 12:1, 4, 8-10)

"Therefore, brethren, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues." (1 Corinthians 14:39).

WHY TAKE AN OFFERING?

"Bring ye all the tithes into storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3:10)
"Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of thine increase." (Proverbs 3:9)
"On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper..." (1 Corinthians 16:2)

WHY HAVE PREACHING?

"For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, not with the wisdom of words, lets the cross of Christ be made of none effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God... it pleased God by the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." (1 Corinthians 1:17-18, 21)
"But has in due time manifested his word through preadching, which was committed to me according to the commandments of God our saviour." (Titus 1:3)
"Preach the word! Be ready in season, out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching.: (2 Timothy 4:2)

WHY HAVE AN ALTAR CALL?

It was common throughout the Bible to force people to make a public decision. Moses did this when he drew a line, Joshua when he declared, "Choose you this day whom you will serve." Elijah forced a choice when the fire fell, and Peter demanded a desision at Pentecost and three thousand came forward and wew saved and baptize. "Therefore whoever confesses me before men, him i will also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32-33)
"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and for saketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

At Pentecost, for ten days the church gathered and prayes until the Holy Ghost came, and when it fell, it was manifested by audible praise and prayer. (Acts 2:1-4)
